Skincare from the inside out

What is a lymphatic massage?

A lymphatic massage is a gentle technique that helps your body move lymph, the fluid that carries excess water and waste away from the tissues. It's the same principle professional lymphatic drainage is based on, adapted for a short daily ritual at home with the Kivello brush. When the system becomes sluggish, blocked, or damaged, fluid gets trapped in your tissues.A lymphatic drainage massage helps by acting as a manual external pump, using very light, rhythmic skin-stretching strokes to push stagnant fluid back into circulation.

The science

What is the lymphatic system?

The lymphatic system is your body's internal system for balance and purification. Unlike the blood circulation, it has no pump of its own, it relies on movement and stimulation.

The lymphatic system does:

Fluid Balance:
It collects the leftover fluid that leaks from blood vessels into tissues and returns it to circulation.

Immune Defense: Lymph nodes and organs filter out bacteria, viruses, and abnormal cells using white blood cells called lymphocytes.

Fat Absorption: It absorbs dietary fats and fat-soluble vitamins from the small intestine and carries them into the blood.

  • Keeps the balance

Maintains fluid balance in the body and a healthy environment for your cells.

  • Removes excess fluids

Helps carry excess fluids and toxins away from the tissues.

  • Supports natural cleansing

Delivers nutrients and protects the immune system.

What happens

When the lymphatic system slows down?

  • Puffiness

The face looks swollen, especially in the morning.

  • Fluid retention

Fluids stay in the tissues, causing discomfort and a build-up of toxins.

  • Tired look

Skin looks dull and tired, without glow.

  • Loss of radiance

Skin loses its fresh, healthy look.

How it works

Gentle pressure, the right direction

Lymph vessels lie just under the skin, so the massage needs almost no pressure. What matters is the direction: strokes travel from the centre of the face outwards towards the ears, then down the sides of the neck to the collarbones, where the lymph nodes are. This "opens the drains" first and then guides the fluid towards them.

The soft bristles of the Kivello brush make this easy: short vibrating movements stimulate the skin zone by zone, and long, light strokes follow the natural pathways. 2-3 minutes are enough for the whole face.

  • Activates the lymphatic system

Stimulates the release of retained fluids and toxins.

  • Sculpts and firms

Improves facial contours and gives a natural lifting effect.

  • Natural care

A non-invasive, completely natural way to a healthy look.

  • Fits easily into your routine

A few minutes a day, just 3–4 days a week, for visibly fresher, glowing skin.

  • Cleanse your face

Start with clean, dry skin. For better results you can apply a serum before the massage.

  • Massage with the brush

First use small vibrating movements zone by zone, then long, light strokes along the massage lines. Total time: 2–3 minutes.

  • Enjoy the result

Apply a moisturiser after the massage. Your skin instantly feels lighter and your face fresher and more rested. Use 3–4 times a week.

Is it for me?

Suitable for every skin type

Lymphatic massage suits sensitive, dry, oily and acne-prone skin alike, because it works with pressure so light that it doesn't irritate. Use extra care over active breakouts, avoid irritated areas with rosacea or eczema, and wait about two weeks after injectables and four weeks after laser treatments.

Best time: in the morning, on clean, dry skin, 3–4 times a week. Results build up: less puffiness from the first use, a smoother, brighter look after a couple of weeks, and more defined contours with regular use.

The good news?

The lymphatic system can be stimulated

With gentle massage strokes, the Kivello brush supports natural lymphatic drainage, reduces puffiness and brings back your skin's glow.

Frequently asked questions

How do I use the brush?

The Kivello face brush combines the practice of manual lymphatic drainage with a modern ergonomic design to activate your skin's natural lymphatic system.

How to use

  • Use on clean, dry skin before applying skincare
  • Use gentle movements
  • Start at the neck towards the collarbones, then move to the upper areas of the face
  • Follow the natural lymphatic pathways: from the centre of the face outwards to the ears and down to the neck
  • Pay extra attention to the jawline, under-eye area and forehead
  • Use light pressure: the lymph nodes respond to minimal force

Time needed: just 2 minutes for a full-face routine, or 5–10 minutes if you focus on specific areas like the jawline or under-eyes. Use 3–4 times a week.

When: best in the morning for maximum results and a fresh look throughout the day.

Tip: apply your favourite serum or moisturiser after the massage. Skin is primed to absorb your skincare better after brushing.

Is it suitable for every skin type?

Yes. The brush is designed and tested to suit all skin types, including sensitive, reactive and acne-prone skin.

Sensitive skin: the soft nylon bristles are gentle enough for daily use without causing irritation or redness. With light pressure the brush is comfortable even on the more sensitive areas of the face.

Acne-prone skin: gentle lymphatic massage can support the skin's natural processes by stimulating circulation and helping to drain retained fluids. Over active breakouts, use even lighter pressure and avoid aggressive movements.

Specific skin conditions:

  • Rosacea / couperose: use minimal pressure and avoid irritated areas
  • Eczema: use only on calm, non-irritated areas
  • After aesthetic procedures: wait about 2 weeks after injectables and about 4 weeks after laser treatments

Important: the lymphatic system responds best to gentle stimulation; there's no need for strong pressure. If you notice redness, simply reduce the pressure next time.

What are the benefits of lymphatic drainage?

The science: the lymphatic system has no pump of its own like the heart; it relies on movement to drain excess fluids and toxins. Gentle strokes with the brush stimulate the lymph nodes beneath the skin, helping the lymph move and drain, which reduces puffiness, defines contours and reveals the face's natural glow. This happens thanks to improved circulation, a better balance of body fluids and support for immune function.

When lymph flow slows down, the system becomes congested and the body starts to accumulate waste, which affects other vital systems, including the immune system. That's why we recommend regular lymphatic drainage massage, and our brush gives you a quick, convenient and pleasant way to do it.

When can I expect visible results?

  • After the first use: you may notice less puffiness and a natural glow. Your face looks fresher and more rested, ideal for a morning routine or before a special occasion.
  • After 1 week: skin starts to feel smoother and softer. You may gradually notice more radiance, and your skincare products may absorb better.
  • After 2 weeks: facial contours may look more defined and the under-eye area less puffy. Fine lines gradually look softer.
  • After 3–4 weeks: with regular use skin may look firmer, contours more defined, and the fresher, rested look becomes more noticeable. This is when people around you may start asking what you've changed.

For best results, use at least 3 times a week. Daily use, morning and/or evening, can support faster, more visible results.

Important: results build up over time. The effect of each session is temporary, but consistent use supports the skin's natural processes and can contribute to better tone, texture and a fresh look. Think of it like exercise: one workout feels good, but consistency is what brings the most noticeable change.

How do I clean the brush?

Proper care keeps the brush hygienic and effective for longer.

After each use

  • Gently rinse the bristles with lukewarm water
  • If needed, use a mild pH-neutral soap (avoid harsh cleansers)
  • Shake off excess water gently
  • Let the brush dry completely on a clean surface, bristles down, or in a well-ventilated place

Important

  • Always let the brush dry completely before storing
  • Clean at least once a week with mild soap
  • Don't soak the whole brush in water for long
  • Avoid hot water, which can affect the bristles
  • Store in the breathable cotton pouch or in the case once dry

How long does it last? With proper care the brush keeps its optimal qualities for 6–12 months. We recommend replacing it when the bristles start to lose their shape or density.

What is it made of?

We offer two brushes: one with a natural wood handle and one with an ABS handle. Every material is carefully selected and tested for safe daily use on the delicate skin of the face.

  • Bristles: specially developed high-quality nylon bristles, gentle enough for sensitive skin yet effective at stimulating lymphatic drainage. Unlike natural bristles, they are more hygienic, easy to maintain and less prone to harbouring bacteria.
  • Handle: an ergonomic handle in beautiful solid wood (Signature) or durable ABS (Compact), designed for a comfortable grip and precise movements during the massage.
  • Body: a durable PP (polypropylene) body that protects the bristles and helps them keep their shape over time.

Tested and made for daily use: 100% vegan materials · Cruelty-free · Supports natural lymphatic drainage · BPA-free materials

How is Kivello different from cheaper imitations?

Our brushes are made from high-quality materials. The bristles are specially tested on different skin types: they are dense and soft, and they don't scratch the skin.

With cheap imitations you risk poor-quality materials. Many have hard bristles that are unpleasant for the skin barrier, often an unpleasant smell, and bristles that fall out easily, so the brush soon becomes unusable.

Every Kivello brush is inspected before it is shipped to the customer.

Brush sizes

Signature: 7 × 9 cm. The larger head covers more area with every stroke, making the massage faster and more effective for the whole face and neck.

Compact: 5.5 × 7 cm. The compact size gives more precise control and is ideal for detailed work around the eyes, cheekbones and jawline.
